*** About Denali: Denali, formerly known as Mount McKinley, is the highest mountain peak in North America, located in south-central Alaska. With a summit elevation of 20,310 feet (6,190 meters) above sea level, Denali is the third highest of the Seven Summits (the tallest peaks on all seven continents). It is known for its dramatic size and beauty, and it dominates the surrounding landscape with vast, sloping valleys, numerous glaciers, and high granite walls, making it visible from far distances. The mountain is also central to the Denali National Park and Preserve, which spans across an impressive six million acres, providing a habitat for numerous wildlife species, including grizzly bears, wolves, reindeer, and golden eagles. The indigenous Koyukon Athabascan people, who inhabit the area around the mountain, refer to the peak as 'Denali' meaning 'the high one,' a name that Congress officially recognized in 2015.
